We are learning new details following the tragic death of a parole officer Thursday afternoon in Colorado Springs. Officials say three parole officers were attempting to contact a suspect in a vehicle in the parking lot of a business at Spruce Street and Bijou near I-25 to check his welfare and make contact. The suspect then fled, striking two of the officers. One of them was treated and released, and the other, Christine Guerin Sandoval, passed away. The suspect is identified as 41-year-old Justin Kula. He’s being held in the El Paso County Jail without bond.
