Deadly Train Derailment North of Pueblo Shutdowns Interstate

AT LEAST A DOZEN TRAIN CARS CARRYING COAL DERAILED ON A TRAIN OVERPASS OVER I-25 NEAR MILE MARKER 107 SUNDAY AFTERNOON AROUND 325. AT LEAST ONE VEHICLE, A SEMI-TRUCK, WAS CAUGHT UNDER THE BRIDGE COLLAPSE. ACCORDING TO REPORTS THE DRIVER OF THAT TRUCK HAS DIED. THERE’S NO WORD IF ANY OTHER VEHICLES WERE TRAPPED. CLEANUP HAS BEEN ONGOING TO REMOVE BOTH THE CARS, AND COAL FROM THE INTERSTATE. NO WORD ON AN ESTIMATED RE-OPENING. SOUTHBOUND TRAFFIC HEADED TO PUEBLO WILL BE DETOURED OFF THE INTERSTATE, WHILE DRIVERS HEADING NORTH TO COLORADO SPRINGS SHOULD TAKE HIGHWAY 50 WEST TO PENROSE AND THEN 115 NORTH TO COLORADO SPRINGS. INVESTIGATORS ARE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHY THE TRAIN LEFT THE TRACKS.
