Man Allegedly Crashes into Downtown Businesses After Domestic Disturbance

POLICE CONTINUE TO INVESTIGATE A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE THAT LED TO A MAN ALLEGEDLY CRASHING HIS CAR INTO SEVERAL DOWNTOWN BUSINESSES EARLY SUNDAY MORNING. AROUND 1:30 A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE WAS REPORTED BETWEEN THE SUSPECT, 24-YEAR-OLD FIDENCIO MEZA PELAYO, AND HIS GIRLFRIEND ON SOUTH PROSPECT STREET. MEZA PELAYO’S GIRLFRIED RAN AWAY FROM HIM AND HE THOUGHT SHE RAN INTO A NEIGHBOR’S HOUSE. HE THEN ATTEMPTED TO BREAK INTO THAT HOUSE. POLICE SAY THE HOMEOWNER SHOT AT AND HIT MEZA-PELAYO. HE THEN GOT INTO A CAR AND FLED THE SCENE. WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS, HE HIT A PARKED CAR ALONG THE 200 BLOCK OF NORTH TEJON STREET WHICH CAUSED THE CAR TO CRASH INTO MULTIPLE BUSINESSES. MEZA-PELAYO WAS ARRESTED AND IS FACING MULTIPLE CHARGES INCLUDING ASSAULT AND BURGLARY. DOWNTOWN BUSINESS OWNERS ARE STILL ASSESSING THE DAMAGES.
