A SOBERING AND TROUBLESOME MESSAGE DELIVERED TUESDAY NIGHT BY 4TH JUDICAL DISTRICT ATTORNEY MICHAEL ALLEN ON THE GROWING PROBLEM OF FENTANYL IN COLORADO SPRINGS SCHOOLS. HE SPOKE TO PARENTS AT SABIN MIDDLE SCHOOL. ALLEN SAID LAST 504 CASES OF FENTANYL WERE INVESTIGATED BY LAW ENFORCEMENT IN THE PIKES PEAK REGION. HE SAID THERE IS A GOOD CHANCE THAT NUMBER MAY DOUBLE BY THE END OF THIS YEAR. ALLEN NOTED THAT MANY OF THE FENTANYL CASES INVOLVE YOUNG PEOPLE, AND SAID ALTHOUGH CONVICTIONS ARE RESULTING IN LONGER SENTENCES FOR SEELING THE DRUG THE PROBLEM CONTINUES TO GROW.
