A RESERVOIR IN SOUTHWEST COLORADO SPRINGS IS BEING SHUT DOWN FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE YEAR. STARTING TOMORROW, CREWS WILL BEGIN MAINTENANCE WORK AT THE SOUTH SUBURBAN RESERVOIR AT STRATTON OPEN SPACE PARK. THIS IS WHERE RAW WATER IS STORED BEFORE ITS MOVED TO A DRINKING WATER TREATMENT FACILITY. COLORADO SPRINGS UTILITIES SAYS THEY NEED TO FIX AN ISSUE WITH AN OUTLET PIPE ALONG WITH OTHER REPAIRS IN THE AREA. UTILITIES STAFF SAYS HIKERS WILL STILL BE ABLE TO ACCESS THE TRAILS SURROUNDING THE RESERVOIR BUT WONT BE ABLE TO GO INTO THE CHAIN LINKED FENCED AREA AROUND IT.
