A MAN HAS BEEN SENTENCED AFTER SHOOTING AN EL PASO COUNTY DEPUTY LAST YEAR. LAST JULY A TRAFFIC STOP WAS MADE IN THE AREA OF COLORADO AVENUE AND RIDGE ROAD. THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE, IDENTIFIED AS WESLEY BRADEN, WAS WANTED FOR MULTIPLE CHARGES INCLUDING ATTEMPTED MURDER. WHEN DEPUTIES TRIED TO TAKE HIM INTO CUSTODY, HE RESISTED AND FIRED AT LEAST ONE ROUND THAT HIT THE DEPUTY. HE WAS EVENTUALLY ARRESTED. THE DEPUTY RECOVERED FROM MINOR INJURIES. AS PART OF A PLEA DEAL BRADEN WAS SENTENCED TO 35 YEARS IN PRISON FOR CRIMINAL ATTEMPT TO COMMIT MURDER IN THE FIRST DEGREE AMONG OTHER CHARGES.
