Man Arrested After Allegedly Attacking El Paso County Sheriff Deputy

AN EL PASO COUNTY DEPUTY WAS ATTACKED WHEN TRYING TO SERVE AN EVICTION NOTICE AT A COLORADO SPRINGS APARTMENT. OFFICIALS SAY SEVERAL PEOPLE WERE SQUATTING AT AN APARTMENT ON VERDE DRIVE. WHEN DEPUTIES WENT TO SERVE THEM PAPERS, THREE OF THE PEOPLE COMPLIED AND LEFT BUT ONE PERSON IDENTIFIED AS 34 YEAR OLD EREK JONES REFUSED TO LEAVE AND ALLEGEDLY TRIED TO ATTACK A DEPUTY. DURING THE ALTERCATION ANOTHER MAN IDENTIFIED AS ERNIE JONES, BEGAN TO ASSAULT DEPUTIES AS WELL.  POLICE WERE EVENTUALLY ABLE TO DETAIN BOTH MEN.  EREK JONES WAS BOOKED INTO THE EL PASO COUNTY JAIL AND FACES MULTIPLE CHARGES INCLUDING 2ND DEGREE ASSAULT ON A PEACE OFFICER.
