Fire on Fort Carson grows to 680 acres

FORT CARSON, CO – A fire burning on Fort Carson has grown to approximately 680 acres in size, according to officials.  The Mountain Post says their firefighters are being assisted by El Paso County Wildland, Cheyenne Mountain Air Station, US Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs Utilities, Colorado Springs Fire Department, Cimarron Hills FD, Fountain FD, Manitou Springs FD, Stratmoor Hills FD, Palmer Lake FD, Tri-Lake FD, Falcon FD and Green Mountain FD.

Two Black Hawks and one Chinook helicopter are dropping water on the fire.

Fort Carson says the cause of the fire is under investigation as there was no training happening at the time it started.  Officials say there is no threat to people or structures.
