Colorado gains approval for federal unemployment benefits

COLORADO – Colorado is getting approval for additional federal unemployment benefits under the lost wages assistance program. It’s still not the 600-dollars people saw under the Cares Act and so far, the extra 300-dollars a week will only be available retroactively for the weeks from July 26th through August 15th.

Payments are expected to be made sometime in the middle of next month. At this point, no decision has been made on whether the state will match an additional 100-dollars a week under the federal program. The extra money that people saw under the Cares Act ran out at the end of July.
