Pueblo – You could call it irony if you wish in Pueblo Friday morning. Hours after CDOT announces that distracted driving is the biggest problem we have on Colorado’s roads, a driver on Highway 50 slammed into the back of a semi-truck at Club Manor Drive at 5:10 a.m. According to the Pueblo police, the driver said they were reaching for a cell phone.
The accident comes as new numbers from CDOT show that the well over 15-thousand crashes in Colorado in 2019, were caused by distracted drivers. It’s the leading cause of accidents statewide. 28-of those were fatal accidents and some 4,000 people were left with injuries.
The most common distractions include eating, drinking, or using a cell phone.
