COLORADO SPRINGS – Protests got a bit heated during a D-12 school board meeting Monday night. School board members discussed whether Cheyenne Mountain High School’s mascot should be replaced. The school has been the “Indians” for decades.
Police even came out to keep the peace as easily over one hundred people took over the small street in front of the Cheyenne Mountain School District 12 offices to let officials know where they stand. At the work session, several protesters came up to the window outside and held up their signs against it, with some even going inside to listen to the discussion.
The school board says they plan to establish a timeline of action at their next meeting.
